Capago International, the new company that will be in charge of French visa applications submitted by Algerian citizens, will not be raising visa prices.
According to local media, Capago International taking over VFS Global as of April 8, will not be causing more expenses for Algerians. This was also confirmed by the French Consul General in Algiers, Bruno Clerc, who noted that French authorities are not planning to increase the prices for standard visas, Schengen.News reports.
However, the Capago service provider will offer a prince range that reflects the services offered to its customers, with the full price list expected to be revealed soon.
Capago International Expected to Process a Bigger Number of French Visas
The General Consul has also pointed out that Capago will be processing visas depending on the volume of applications set by the consulates.
For example, about 100 to 1,200 applications for French Schengen visas are processed every day for the Algerian capital city, Algiers, from where the highest number of visa applications originates.
According to statistics published by SchengenVisaInfo, the number of applications for French visas was approximately 279,000 in 2023. The French consulate in Algiers received 54.6 per cent or 152,411 applications compared to 53,379 (19.1 per cent) received by the consulate in Annaba and 73,215 (26.2 per cent) submitted to the French consulate in Oran.
As the media reports, the number of visas granted to Algerians has increased by 20 per cent in 2024, which could indicate higher expenses for this nationality group.
The data reveals that France was responsible for more than half (56 per cent) of all denied visas of Algerian applicants in 2023, causing France to deny most visas to Algerians for the year.
How Much Are Algerians Paying for French Schengen Visas in 2025?
The visa application fee is €90 for adults and €45 for children between the ages of six and 11. Children under six years old are exempted from the fee.
However, Algerians applying for a Schengen visa are required to pay a non-refundable service fee of €29, which is retained by the French consulate even if the visa is refused.
Once the appointment is confirmed, the applicant has to pay the fees about 72 hours in advance in order to confirm the reservation. If payment is not made within this time period, the allocated slot will be automatically cancelled and quickly taken as it is open for other applicants.
